(Qualia, pronounced ‘kwah-lee-ah’, is a unique Australia expression that is associated with beauty and quality)

Qualia Sport Horses is situated in the rural town of Pinjarra, Western Australia about an hour south of Perth near the new Forrest Highway. The Peel Region provides an excellent setting for our horses with good soils for lush pasture and hay and a fantastic climate all year round. Being just 20 minutes from the Mandurah CBD and beach, Pinjarra is one of the most popular rural areas in WA.

Qualia is a smaller boutique Australian Stock Horse Stud that prides itself on breeding for quality, not quantity. We mainly aim to breed competition horses for ourselves but would also like to provide a selection of horses each year that will be offered for public sale. We firmly believe the key to breeding a top class horse begins with the mare and with that in mind we are progressing towards not just breed-ing out of good mares, we are breeding out of champions. Our small broodmare band is a mix of excep-tional young mares that have competed at the highest level and have been outstanding on the field. Then we have older mares that have been consistently producing top class horses across all perform-ance disciplines. Combine these wonderful mares with the natural athleticism and proven genetics in our resident stallion Hogans Tribune and we believe we are going to be breeding and competing some very talented horses down the track!

Not only have we been thorough in ensuring we have a good foundation with our broodmares, we have continued to build on this by purchasing competition horses with all the traits we believe makes a top performance horse: softness, speed, athleticism, toughness, conformation and proven pedigrees. These are the type of mares that give a little something extra to your day and you can’t wait to saddle up! Once they have been to the top in their chosen field and have proven they have that champion gene, they will then retire to our broodmare paddock to ensure we are giving Qualia the very best op-portunity for the future.

Although we have just established Qualia we have been involved in horses and numerous equestrian disciplines all our lives. Like most kids we started off with a Pony Club background competing at the Perth Royal Show as youngsters in the hack and led classes giving us the good, essential riding basics from the beginning that helped us to become highly successful with many ponies and horses in every equestrian discipline from Eventing to Prince Phillip Games! Somewhere in there we got our hands on a polocrosse racquet and the rest as they say is history.

The main part of Qualia is a 6 acre property just out of town. It consists of post and rail day yards with shelters, white sand indoor stalls with a vet shed and 2 shoeing bays, post and rail irrigated clover and kikuyu day paddocks, a shaded round yard adjoined to a 20m x 25m rectangu-lar yard for breaking and training purposes and also a 30m x 55m clay/loam arena. The ‘work track’ is a 40 acre block predominantly used to graze cattle but we are also able to fitness train our competition horses and put some miles under young horses legs . There are numerous places to ride out in the bush and even down to the Peel Estuary pro-viding a great opportunity to expose our horses to different environ-ments and keep their minds fresh.

The majority of the stud is two 25 acre pasture lots with horse safe sight wire fencing for all broodmares, foals and our spelling competition horses. The paddocks have continual, fantastic cov-erage with 2 dams and creek which are both full all year and also plenty of shady trees.

Qualia we guarantee your mare will be given the most professional and hands on care during her stay and while she is being joined to our stallion Hogans Tribune. We understand it can be a hard decision to send your mare away to another property and of course we welcome any special requests from you as the owner on how you would like her to be fed, yarded and paddocked. We can offer individual or shared paddock arrangements with all our facilities built with the horses safety, health and comfort in mind.

All our veterinary needs and services are provided by Pinjarra Veterinary Hospital which is only a short 5 minute drive down the road. Dr Peter McKean conducts all our pregnancy tests and follicle scans and is extremely professional and one of the most well regarded equine vets. Please feel free to get in contact with them at any time to discuss your mare and other services they can provide.
